In the middle of a desert, a grand piano is made entirely of sun-bleached animal bones. A woman plays it. Each note she strikes releases a flock of white moths from inside the piano. A man reads alone in a library. Every page he turns releases salt water that slowly floods the room. He keeps reading, unbothered, as fish swim past his face. A man fishes into a still lake, but his line goes up into the sky. He reels in a constellation. The stars drip like wet paint as he lifts them out. A tailor in a floating workshop sews a suit out of falling rain. Each stitch freezes a raindrop in mid-air. When finished, the suit is made entirely of suspended water droplets. A woman kneels in a garden where every flower is a ticking clock face. When she waters them, the hands spin backward and the petals age in reverse — from brown to full bloom.
